Happy New Year! I hope you have a fantastic 2019.

Write, Write, Write — Everyday

I’ve decided to conduct an experiment. I will be (attempting) to write and post every day in January. Why? Well, a few reasons. First, I feel that to take my writing to the next level I need to write more, a lot more. At the moment I’m letting life get in the way. I have definitely upped my game in the last month or so, publishing a few articles on Medium within that time, but I need to do more. The biggest reason I have let my writing go by the wayside is my depression, although ironically it has been writing that has been my medicine, along with the actual antidepressants of course. Depression has zapped my focus, my energy, my drive and my creativity. And that’s in everyday life, let alone my writing.

You can read more about my depression and how it has affected me here.

So as I said writing has become a sort of medication for me. When I told work that I wasn’t coping well, they stripped my workload right down, meaning I have more time in the evenings. I also quit Facebook which has given me more time to do other things – yes, my Facebook addiction was that bad. You can read about that here.

Anyway, instead of browsing Facebook I have been clicking on the black M instead, reading something of note, two, three times a day. This, the act of opening Medium multiple times a day has given me a renewed focus.

I also want to see if I can improve my story views and claps and grow my followers. My hope is that posting every day will help to achieve this. Of course, the quality of the article has to be good, although I am happy with my writer’s voice, I know I need to improve the overall quality of my writing, but who doesn't think that?

I’m excited to see the outcome of this experiment and see if it helps to yield a new me – New Year, New Me right. Yep, I actually said it… Never saying that again.

I’m excited to see what this month will bring and I’d love to have you along for the journey. Thanks for reading.
